The basic structure of bearings

From: yxcbearing.com Author: admin Date: 2024-03-14

The basic structure of bearings is composed of four parts: inner ring, outer ring, rolling element (steel ball or roller), and cage.

1. Inner ring (also known as inner sleeve or inner ring): usually fixed on the shaft neck, the inner ring rotates together with the shaft. There are grooves on the outer surface of the inner ring for steel balls or rollers to roll, called inner grooves or inner raceways.

2. Outer ring (also known as outer sleeve or outer ring): usually fixed on the bearing seat or the shell of the machine, serving to support the rolling element. There are also grooves on the inner surface of the outer ring for steel balls or rollers to roll, called inner grooves or inner raceways.

3. Rolling element (steel ball or roller): Each set of bearings is equipped with one or several sets of rolling elements, which are installed between the inner and outer rings and play a role in transmitting rolling forces. Rolling elements are components that bear loads, and their shape, size, and quantity determine the bearing's ability to withstand loads and the performance of high-speed operation.

4. Cage (also known as retainer or isolator): evenly separates the rolling elements in the bearing from each other, allowing each rolling element to roll normally between the inner and outer rings
